The Snowbird SP550 sits between the SP400 and the SP700, carrying 550 g of 650 fill power duck down from around 1.1 kg. The 20D polyamide shell is down-proof, so the fill stays inside the baffles rather than working through the weave. The mummy cut tapers towards the feet to reduce the volume of air your body has to warm.
Best for
Cold-weather hiking and camping where you want more insulation than the SP400 without carrying the weight of the SP700.
Not ideal for
Warm nights, where a lighter bag suits better, and sustained wet conditions where a synthetic bag keeps insulating once damp.
