The R1.8 Egg Nest Folding Mat is closed-cell foam rather than an inflatable, so there is nothing to blow up and nothing to puncture. Unfold it and it is ready. An aluminium film on the underside reflects body heat back, and the egg crate profile traps air in the dimples for insulation and cushioning.
Best for
Summer hiking and camping where reliability matters more than thickness, and as a layer under an inflatable pad in colder conditions to add insulation.
Not ideal for
Cold ground on its own, or anyone who wants the cushioning of a thicker inflatable pad.
