The Thickened Folding Egg Nest Mat is closed-cell foam at 2.5 cm, so there is nothing to inflate and nothing to puncture. The extra foam over a standard egg crate mat gives more cushioning underneath you, and an aluminium film reflects body heat back rather than letting it drain into the ground.
Best for
Hiking and camping where a mat that cannot fail matters more than pack volume, and as a layer under an inflatable pad to add insulation in colder conditions.
Not ideal for
Taller sleepers, since the mat is 187 cm, or trips where pack space is tight and the thinner R1.8 mat folds smaller.
