The R8.8 Sleeping Pad is built for genuine winter conditions. A silver coating on the inside of the shell reflects body heat back at you instead of letting it drain into the ground, which is how it reaches an R-value of 8.8 from 510 g. The 12 cm profile is the deepest in the ultralight range.
Best for
Winter and expedition camping, snow, and high-altitude nights where ground insulation is the difference between sleeping and not.
Not ideal for
Warm-weather trips, where the R3.5 or Fish Bone give enough insulation without paying for what you will not use.
