The Snowbird SP700 carries 700 g of 650 fill power duck down and is comfort rated to −7.3 °C, from 1.2 kg. A saddle-shaped collar closes around the neck and two draught strips sit behind the zip, which is where a down bag usually loses heat, and a 3D foot box leaves room for your feet without cold spots.
Best for
Winter camping and high-altitude nights where the temperature drops well below freezing, at a weight you can still carry on foot.
Not ideal for
Mild conditions, where the SP550 or SP400 give enough warmth for less weight and outlay, and sustained wet weather where a synthetic bag keeps insulating once damp.
