45L Hiking Backpack

A 45 litre pack sized for one to three nights out. Two things decide whether a load carries well: a back panel you can set to your own torso length, and a hip belt that pivots independently as you walk rather than fighting your stride on uneven ground. This pack has both.

Best for
Overnight and weekend hikes carrying a tent, sleeping system and food. In winter, when kit is bulkier, expect a single night from the same volume.

Not ideal for
Trips beyond three nights, where the 55 + 5L carries the extra food, and day walks where 45 litres is more pack than you need.

Getting the fit right

Torso length is not the same as your height, and it matters more than anything else for how a pack carries. Feel for the bony bump at the base of your neck where it meets your shoulders, then place your hands on your hips with thumbs pointing back until they meet at the top of your hip bones. Measure along your spine between those two points.
